Galaxy Pharmaceuticals is a 503B outsourcing facility in Albany, New York. We manufacture compounded sterile and non\-sterile products at commercial scale under cGMP. We are hiring a Chief AI Officer to design, validate, and operate the AI system that keeps this facility continuously inspection\-ready — a production platform, not a strategy memo.

What you will own

You will build and run Galaxy’s AI operating system across eight capability domains:

1\. Continuous compliance intelligence — live mapping of 21 CFR, USP, state board, and FDA 483 / warning\-letter signal into facility\-specific action.

2\. Sensing facility — AI inspection and environmental monitoring that detects drift before Quality does.

3\. Digital workforce — governed agents that draft, check, and route work for humans who remain accountable.

4\. Science\-led knowledge core — formulation, process, and stability knowledge the facility can query and cite.

5\. AI\-drafted validation and partner mesh — IQ/OQ/PQ, CSV, and supplier documentation drafted by AI and released by people.

6\. One knowledge layer — a single, controlled source of truth across Quality, Operations, Regulatory, and Supply.

7\. Supply and shortage intelligence — API, component, and 503B market signal that protects continuity of supply.

8\. Data foundation and AI governance — the platform, provenance, model inventory, and kill\-switch architecture everything else sits on.

How AI is allowed to run here

Two\-tier architecture is required. Locked, deterministic models sit in the GMP\-critical core. Generative AI lives in an assistive shell, behind human gates.

Non\-negotiable:

\- The Quality Unit reviews every AI\-generated GMP document.

\- Every output carries provenance.

\- Humans gate release, filings, and spend.

\- Every AI component can be switched off and the facility remains compliant.

What you have already done

\- End\-to\-end ownership of an AI/ML platform in a GxP environment (pharma, biotech, or medical device) — data and models through validation, change control, and production operations.

\- Production GMP AI with measurable outcomes: fewer deviations, faster batch release, earlier EM or inspection signal, or documented inspection\-readiness gains.

\- Fluency in GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, current FDA AI/ML guidance, and the EU draft Annex 22 posture.

\- Designed or operated a two\-tier stack: deterministic models on the GMP\-critical path; generative systems only as assistive tools with human release authority.

PhD strongly preferred (computer science, engineering, statistics, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related quantitative field). You will need executive presence with Quality, Operations, and regulators — including the ability to defend the system in an FDA inspection — and comfort visiting a manufacturing floor.
