hands-on technical leadership role

What you'll do
Own the end-to-end architecture for enterprise GenAI and ML solutions: RAG, agentic workflows, model routing, guardrails, and evaluation, from design through production.
Lead and mentor a team of AI/ML and data engineers. Set standards, review designs and code, and unblock delivery.
Build production pipelines and services in Python and PySpark on Azure (Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, AKS) and Databricks.
Establish MLOps practices: CI/CD for models, MLflow tracking, evaluation harnesses (including LLM-as-a-judge), monitoring, and controlled model promotion.
Work directly with agency program leaders to turn ambiguous mission needs into working solutions, and explain trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Build responsible-AI, security, and privacy requirements into the design (NIST AI RMF, federal ATO/FISMA) so solutions can clear governance and go live.
What you bring
Hands-on technical leadership of at least one AI/ML or GenAI solution deployed to production for an employer or client
, with real users, real data, and real governance. Personal, side, or academic projects are welcome as extras but don't meet this requirement on their own.
10+ years in software, data, or ML engineering, including 5+ years building and deploying machine learning models and 2+ years building LLM/GenAI applications in a professional setting.
Deep Python skills, plus experience with PySpark and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn).
Production experience with Microsoft Azure AI services and/or Databricks.
Experience leading engineering teams (3+ engineers) through design, build, and release.
Clear communication with senior client stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal Public Trust / Suitability determination.
Nice to have
